Cars

"Should I get my car off the street?" I sat and wondered...

The answer was no, but I did anyway.

Sometimes in the past it has rained hard enough locally that even though there wasn't a "flood", the water in the gutters was high enough to get into my old car's passenger side, so when I was awakened this morning by the sound of roaring rain beating down on the roof, I figured it was time to get my new car moved to my off-street parking space, which is really inconvenient, but certainly at a higher elevation.  The rain stopped almost as soon as I'd moved the car, but it was still the right thing to do.

At that point I was awake for good, which is why there were all those comments from me on yesterday's diary around 5am.

There might not be many of you reading this who remember TRASG0, the Dorm Wars guy.  Well, good old TRASG0, whose best man I was at his wedding in May of '07, is due to become a daddy any time now.  Actually, it was supposed to happen on Monday, but first babies are always late.  Anyway, as soon as his daughter is born I'll try and let you know.  The times, they are a changin'.

The ScanGauge is awesome.  One of the nice things to know is that I don't end up spending all that much more (something on the order of 1/10th of a gallon per hour) fuel to run my A/C.  It has confirmed that it's best to be in the highest gear possible, and that the engine does shut the fuel injectors off during engine braking.  Now I can just use it to do historical analysis of fuel consumption based on different driving habits, et cetera.

I need to clean more before my parents and aunt show up on Saturday, but there's nothing like a deadline for motivation, so I'm planning to do it all tomorrow evening.

"first babies are always late," unless you really want me to launch into a very annoying (to the listener) lecture.

cuz' that's a totally false statement and stuff.

Is there any statement wrt. babies that can be described as 'always', other than 'come out eventually, somehow'?

They were each a stunning vision of beauty the likes of which mere mortals cannot express.

It is an oft-repeated cliche by riceowlguy (2.00 / 0) #13 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 10:20:08 PM EST
that first babies tend to be late.  Therefore, they should not be at all concerned at this point.  In fact, I was just on the phone with him and he said that the doctor told them that she could be two weeks late and it wouldn't be cause for concern.

Better?

How far off? I sat and wondered. by wiredog (4.00 / 1) #4 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 07:30:01 AM EST
Then we got flash+bang simultaneously. So that question was answered.
